Mugs

The power was off for most of the day at the workshop today while the electrical company did work on the power lines, so I got on the kickwheel and made a couple of dozen soft-thrown kickwheel mugs. It always takes me a little while to get back into making pots after a break, so it feels good to have made a start.
Here are some finished mugs in the showroom.
And here's the little showroom with the first of the many gladioli that I planted in full bloom.

Here's a view inside. I still have more shelves to build and all the walls to panel out and paint, but that'll have to wait a while, lots of pots to make now for a firing at the beginning of September. Rustic mixing bowls next week.
Happy weekend all

And a happy wickend to you too Dug. That showroom looks really good, light and airy, one of those mugs would look really good with a foaming pint of RC bitter, must make an effort and get to see you sometime, maybe Earth and Fire next year.

Beautiful! I've never tried a kick wheel but love the softness you created on mugs. Sounds like you show at Earth & Fire. That's the southest I could usually visit from where I live. Looking forward to see your work directly next year. xm

Hi Doug, Nice to see you back at work. I am still hoping to visit, but I have to extend my stay in the UK as Toff and I had a bit of miscommunication regarding his trip to Scotland. I'm hoping to turn up in Devon around the 25/26th of Aug. if that would work?

Hi all
hey Richard, I met somebody at Earth and Fire who knows you.Hi Maki, the kickwheel makes it much easier to make these mugs 'softer', I think it's because of the variation in speed. Dan, yes, fantastic, you'll even be here for a bit of Love Daddy rock at Nic's party. Cheers Ang, this time last year you were here. The workshop's a much more organised space now, hope you can come and make some pots again before too long
