I had plans of heading up to the workshop today to unpack the kiln, but it's not going to happen now until the morning.
Hil's out in the car today, so it would mean walking the three or so miles to the workshop, only to find the kiln's probably too hot to open and it's way too chilly out there for a rural stomp this afternoon.
So I'll find out in the morning whether to laugh or cry. Everything went really smoothly with the firing, but I've thought that before and been disappointed - I'll not count my chickens - that said, I should probably be more excited than I am - maybe it's just the time of year.
My mate Nic's documenting his progress towards another on-line exhibition, here's a video I lifted from his blog that I think you'll enjoy.
He's a fantastic potter.
Happy Birthday Tiggy!
He is good, I think I detected a Bit of The sensational Alex Harvey Band in the background. Mad But Good.
ReplyDeleteI left my first bisc firing on friday night until this morning to open it was 24 0c, that must be the coldest I've ever opened a kiln door.
damn it! waiting here with baited breath!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat video is sweet. It makes me want to go make some mugs. I guess that is how you know it is good. I finished firing yesterday and had some teapot lids break. I am pretty bummed about it, and I dont know if they blew onto any other pots yet. It is a bit stressful for me and I know how you feel waiting to open a kiln. I just have to keep telling myself not to worry about it. We gotta get on skype btw.
ReplyDeletePatience is a good thing, Doug.
ReplyDeleteOK my fingers crossed for you....and my own glaze firing, now cooling, which is needed Monday afternoon in an exhibit...
ReplyDelete"Damn it" is right! Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait overnight.
