Thanks Earl and Vickie. I've just been back up to the workshop and had another look. Do you know, I've got some amazing tenmokus there, the iron content is so high, they look like stoneware glazes. Some of them are quite interesting in a 'not quite what I'm trying to achieve' sort of way. The ones that are good have come out lovely and although it was the worst glaze result for one glaze, it's the best I've ever had from the other glaze - thankfully! At least there's a positive!
Thanks Doug, Considering how you must be feeling, That was very kind to think of me. I've got up a 7am on a monday morning to do a bit of glazing for a glaze firing later in the week do you want to put a few trial glazes in that to see what they are like in a gas firing?
Or... maybe you should keep the little gas kiln and use that for tests? Sounds like you'll be busy this week anyway, and I've been wondering whether the burners on it will be powerful enough to fire a bigger kiln, anyway.
Haven't had a good look at the pictures yet, but I recognise some of the browns... what a downer :(
Hey you know I thought that glaze did look a bit temmoku-ish. Not that you want to do that again, but I don't think it's too bad....as long as it doesn't come with a shelf attached.
Hey Andrew, come and get it, I'm sure those burners will be just the job. Next week would be better if possible, my parents are coming to stay to look after the boys while we're at Rufford this week, but this week's ok if it's the only time you can make it. Next week you could come and stay and make some pots too if you fancy, Cambs to Devon and back in one day would be an almighty haul. Loads of clay here for you too. It'd be great to see you
